Time and attendance in Mexico: working-time rules to know
Maximum workweek drops from 48 to 40 hours by 2030
The schedule is 46 hours in 2027, 44 in 2028, 42 in 2029 and 40 in 2030. Employers may not reduce wages or benefits during the transition.
Electronic time records from 2027
Starting January 1, 2027, employers must electronically record each worker's start and end times and keep those records. STPS will issue the implementing guidelines.
New weekly overtime caps
The weekly overtime cap rises gradually to 12 hours in 2030. Hours within the cap are paid at double time, and hours beyond it at triple time.
Weekly rest day
The Federal Labor Law grants at least one paid rest day for every six days worked.
