Labor Directorate and the 40-Hour Law
The Dirección del Trabajo enforces the Labor Code, including Law 21,561, which gradually lowers the workweek to 40 hours by 2028.
Electronic Payroll Book (LRE)
Employers with five or more workers report their monthly payroll to the Labor Directorate.
AFP, health and unemployment insurance
Contributions go to the employee's pension fund (AFP), to Fonasa or an Isapre, and to unemployment insurance managed by AFC.
Previred
Most employers file and pay social security contributions through the Previred platform.
SII and the single second-category tax
Employers withhold the wage tax and report it to the Internal Revenue Service (SII), including the annual sworn statement 1887.
